Some thirty-three years my wife and I discovered the Saluki and immediately fell in love with this ancient and beautiful hound. Since then we have avidly studied and travelled extensively to further our knowledge of the breed.

We show and breed under the Jazirat prefix and have achieved considerable success from only seven litters (two in partnership). These litters have produced four UK Champions, two American Champions, together with one Canadian, Irish, Hungarian, German, Austrian and a International Champion. In 1991 we won the Hound Group at Crufts, with Ch Jazirat Bahiyyah JW. Her daughter went on to become the top winning Saluki in Germany winning, among her many achievements, twelve Best in Shows. Together with Paul and Joanne Mahon we imported Ch Timaru Valkyrie of Jazirat (owned by Paul and Joanne), who subsequently has sired four UK litters and has been the top Saluki Stud Dog (Dog World) for the past ten years.

I had my first judging appointment in October 1984 and awarded Challenge Certificates for Salukis in August 1990. Since then I have judged in the UK, the USA, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Australia and Belgium; attracting entries of over two thousand Salukis.

I published and designed the magazine "Saluki International", which was distributed worldwide, for sixteen years. I was also considerably involved in the production of Saluki Heritage, for some ten years. Together with my wife, we are the authors of "The Complete Saluki" which was the first English publication to win an award with the American Dog Writers Association.

In conclusion, it is both an honour and a privilege to be invited to judge our breed and I am looking forward to meeting new Saluki aficionado's and their hounds at the forthcoming Specialty.
