It was a great honour to be invited to judge at the Norwegian Saluki-Specialty 2013. The organisation was really perfect. The showgrounds were excellent for this event and the weather was wonderful for dogs and handlers alike. After a very friendly welcome I started to judge, not knowing any of the people or dogs – a fact I really like. The people were friendly, the dogs all shown in best coat-condition. A very few were a little heavy. I admire the consistently polished presentation of the dogs, even in the puppy class. I saw beautiful Salukis of many different type and colours, feathered and smooth. Most of the dogs had beautiful heads and expression, nice feathering except of course the smooth variety. Tail-set was no problem, but I found several rather short tails, especially in the males. The future looks bright for Norwegian Saluki-kennels, judging by the very promising young males and females that were shown. |
